This is it.

This is that moment.

This is the moment when I'm awake much past my bedtime because I can't go to sleep. I can't sleep because I know that when I wake up, the moment will be over. The memory of this moment - when all of those things that I love but have doubts about don't have doubts anymore and I'm blissed out on the thought of who I want to be rather than who I am now - won't be as clear as it is in this moment when I wake up.

Here's my secret. I very nearly cry every time I leave a theatre because the shows make me so happy and the realization that I'm not a part of it makes me sad. Theatre makes me feel like myself, but they also tear me up because I remember that a part of me is missing.

So tonight, having just come home from a wonderful show, I remember clearly how very much I need to be part of that world. I also then remember that for now, I'm still a card-carrying member of nursing land.

I don't want to go to sleep.

A Morning Refresher

The last two days I've commuted to work via bicycle. Actually, I put the bike on the bus to get to work, and enjoyed the ride back home at the end of the day. It's all downhill, and I actually make it home faster than the bus that way. Plus the weather's been real nice, so I've been quite happy with the alternative mode of transportation.

Maybe someday I'll work up to actually biking towards work, but for now, I'm going to enjoy the good bits.

May Update

It's only about  half way through May, but I feel the need to write an update post just because there's been so much going on!

So I celebrated my first "adult"  milestone birthday on the 9th - my 25th. I'm now a quarter-century old. I spent the day (a Monday) doing only the things I wanted to do. Started the day with an early yoga class. Turns out the class was free because it was my special day - Surprise! After limbering up, I went home to shower and get dressed for a day full of walking around downtown and shopping. I bought a few wonderful birthday presents and then went for tea at a small tea house called the Urban Tea Merchant on Georgia st. Excellent tea sammies and even a French macaroon. Yum!

By dinner time I was quite tired from walking all afternoon, and I was quite happy to discover that Mike had baked me a birthday cake from scratch!
made from scratch - except for the cherry pie filling!
The cake was delicious, and pared well with the pizza-pie we ate for supper. Delish!

Canuck Fever

As many of you know, The Vancouver Canucks are making a run at the Stanley Cup this year. My home is inundated with hockey-talk on a very regular basis (there's a new game every two days), and after nearly 8 years with Mike I'm starting to come around to the idea that watching hockey and following a hockey team could actually be fun!

You probably saw the picture I painted for our apartment window which faces a commonly used pathway. In addition, Mike decided to support my support of the team by gifting me a hockey jersey for my birthday last week! It was quite the surprise, and I hope it gets plenty of use this year. I'll post a picture of me wearing it soon.
